This is charming bed and breakfast accommodation in a British-owned spacious country house surrounded by beautiful wild terraced gardens with lily ponds, where children have to be watched at all times. It is located in the heart of the "chateau country" of the Loire Valley, Saumur and Amboise. There is also a large swimming pool with infinity wall. The house overlooks the water-meadows of the meandering river Indre near to where it joins the Loire, on one of its most beautiful stretches. There are lovely walks all around, with amazing troglodytic dwellings within 5 minutes easy stroll and both the Rivers Indre and Loire are within walking distance. In the immediate area, you can walk, ride bicycles along the special cycle route along the banks of the Loire, paint or take photographs, watch the birds and wild-life, or just sit and read and admire the view. The world-famous "Sleeping Beauty" castle of Rigny-Usse is the nearest of the major chateaux, at just a 5 minutes drive or bike ride away. Langeais castle, Azay le Rideau chateau and Fontevraud Abbey, where Richard the Lionheart is buried, are all about 20 minutes away by car; Chinon (where Joan of Arc encountered the Dauphin in 1429 - and now the largest historic restoration project in France) is 15 minutes

Your hosts run their own wine tours and will be able to advise you on the best vineyards to visit in the immediate area. They can also arrange boat trips on Indre or Loire in traditional flat-bottomed craft, vsits to local Brocantes (outdoor furniture and bric-a-brac sales), visits to troglodytic dwellings in the Loire escarpment and /or mushroom caves and also balloon trips over the chateaux. Sometimes you may want to spend the whole day sightseeing without stopping for a formal lunch.
