This British-owned fortified and moated (parents of young children should pay particular attention) medieval castle offers quality chateau bed and breakfast accommodation near St Lo in Normandy, close to the historic WW2 landing beaches, the Bayeux Tapestry and Mont St. Michel, just 55 mins from Cherbourg, 60 mins from Caen and 90 mins from St Malo.

The chateau is in a quiet, rural setting, surrounded by 27 acres of parkland, meadows and orchards. The moat has beautiful black swans and ducks gracing it and in the grounds you will find a flock of rare breed Hebridean sheep.

The accommodation is comfortably furnished with many interesting antiques and is a haven of peace and tranquillity. It is the perfect place to forget the stresses and strains of normal daily life. Leisure facilities include giant chess, boules, croquet, and 800M category 3 river frontage. The chateau provides free WiFi internet access.

A large double aspect light room with views over the moat and the surrounding grounds of the chateau. The room, which is one the first floor, is decorated in blue and white toile with French antique cream furnishings and has a beautiful ensuite bathroom with an amazing loo with arrow slits and the old holes for cannons to be fired out of. A beautiful stone fireplace is a dominant feature in the room, plus the romantic cream lace four-poster bed. Tea, coffee facilities are provided and also a hairdryer.

This room can form part of a suite with the Duc de St Simon for those travelling together with family or friends. It is reached from the stairs on the first floor and on the inside of the door to the corridor is a 500 year old painting of an angel - angels were painted on the rooms of ladies to protect them whilst they slept. This is pretty bedroom decorated in burgundy toile. It has a small fireplace and looks out over the courtyard and surrounding grounds. The bathroom to this bedroom is not ensuite but can be accessed just a few steps away from the main staircase. It is a comfortable bathroom with views over the moat. Tea, coffee facilities are provided and a hairdryer for the comfort of our guests. An extra single bed can be out in this room if required.

This is a pretty 2nd floor twin bedded room with a stone fireplace. There is space for an additional single bed if required. The room is decorated in crushed strawberry colours, with a window facing the courtyard and grounds of the chateau. The tiles are possibly 400 years old with Chinese scatter rugs to add to the comfort. A television is hidden away in an antique cupboard, but one can only watch dvd's and videos, plenty are available suitable for all ages. The bathroom is not ensuite but just a few steps away off the main staircase. Tea, coffee facilities are provided as well as a hairdryer.

A sofa bed offers guests the option to had an extra person or two in the room. The tiles on the floor of this room are possibly 400 years old, Chinese scatter rugs add to the comfort. Access into the tower to the ensuite bathroom with cannon holes and arrow slits helping to give one the feel of medieval times. Tea, coffee facilities are provided as well as a hairdryer.

This is the largest bedroom in the chateau, on the first floor and with views over the courtyard and the surrounding parkland. A stunning Jacobean oak four-poster bed and the large stone fireplace are dominant features in the tapestry furnished room. A sofa bed offers comfort for the guest who wants to retire to their room and read up on World War II history, there are plenty of books for the guests to pick up and read. The sofa bed can also be used for 3 or 4 wanting to share this beautiful room. A door leads into one of the towers from this room where once the taxes were secreted ready for collection and onward transmission to Rouen or Paris. This room also has significant World War II history, a local lady hid there from the Germans for 3 days before being rescued by the Liberators. The bathroom to this room is a large stunning room, once a guard room, with arrow slits looking down into the drawing room. Tea, coffee facilities are provided as is a hairdryer.
